Research activities will be focused on the in-situ microscopic (TEM, EELS, EDX) and spectroscopic (XRD, Raman) characterization of defect and interface engineered Li/Na ion battery electrodes. These measurements are aimed at investigating the unconventional defect and interface induced Li/ Na ion storage mechanisms. Proposed in-situ microscopic and spectroscopic investigations will enable the development of novel electrode materials for high energy/ power density and ultralong life rechargeable batteries.
