Gnanomat seeks a technological development leader (CTO). The company is seeking a highly proactive professional profile of CTO. The CTO will be in charge of medium and long-term planning and monitoring of the company’s development road-map. This role will also be the leader of the technological development team and will coordinate the company projects with our international partners.
The candidate must hold a PhD in nanotechnology, specifically in graphene, and with advanced knowledge in energy storage. Prior experience in a company of at least three years is required and a qualification in PMP or other accredited training in Project Management will be highly valued. High level of English is mandatory (level of negotiation).

Position for an energetic and motivated research technician that will carry out a significant amount of mechanical testing (including data analysis), materials´ characterization (metallographic preparation of samples for optical and electron microscopy, including cutting, mounting, mechanical polishing, etching, and electropolishing), and heat treatments.

DOC-FAM is an excellence DOCtoral training programme in Functional Advanced Materials awarded to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in the H2020-MSCA-COFUND-2016 Call and coordinated through the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB) in collaboration with several partner research Institutions from the area, four of them contributing to the co-funding of the programme. During the 60 months of duration of the programme, two calls will be launched for the recruitment of 22 Marie-Skłodowska-Curie Early-Stage Researchers (ESRs) during 36 months each.

The Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) has recently approved and budged the construction of a dedicated BS-L2 Lab and seeks a talented, enthusiastic individual to work within the BS-L2 Facility as a senior laboratory officer. The facility will address the current growing interest in the experimentation combining of life sciences with phenomena taking place at the nano and micro scales and will enable substantial advances in the research work of ICN2 groups in this field.

The successful candidate is expected to service the activity of the Laboratory and foster the life science research and development at ICN2 promoting the role of the facility as a catalyser to this type of activities.

The candidate will work in the context of a recently created spin-off company which aim is the development of prototype devices. Therefore, materials engineering is the keyword, high TRLs the path and a breakthrough device the objective.

The main responsibilities of the position comprise instrumental developments, experimental determinations of phase transformation subjected to thermomechanical treatment, and in situ characterizations of structural evolutions in steels. The experimental data will be interpreted along with computational results to reveal physical mechanisms leading to phase transformations in ultra-high steels, yet, highlighting future developments for UHS.

Postdoctoral research scientist with a strong background in the application of X-ray diffraction (XRD) to materials analysis. You will apply a novel, high-resolution, non-invasive XRD technique to the analysis of cultural heritage artefacts, leading several measurement campaigns at the Diamond synchrotron, and will be responsible for analysing the resulting data. The project is an EPSRC-funded multidisciplinary collaboration with the Centre for Archaeological and Forensic Analysis, Cranfield University, and the post will involve travel to Swindon, the Diamond Light Source near Oxford and to other project partners.
