SILK BIOMED is a spin-off of the Biomedical Technology Center of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (CTB-UPM) and has the vocation to improve people’s health and to help them improving their living conditions.
The company is dedicated to the production and commercialization of high-tech silk fibroin biomedical products for the regeneration and repair o human body tissues. With a strong R&D background in advanced materials, biohybrid materials, tissue engineering and cell therapy, our company offers solutions for ligament and tendon reconstruction, peripheral nerve repair, and brain tissue regeneration.
Silk Biomed has been created by a group of UPM researchers of international prestige led by Prof. Gustavo Guinea, current Director of CTB-UPM and awarded by the Science Program of Marcelino Botin Foundation.
Silk Biomed has received the Award for Best Project Idea in the Materials for Health and Food Start-ups Brokerage event organised by MATERPLAT in 2019.
